Essential Job Functions

Position: Lieutenant Security and Security Officer

Department: Security

Date Updated: 02 / 2021

Primary Responsibilities: (guest interaction, ordering responsibilities, clean up duties, clerical responsibilities, etc.)
•Respond to fire emergencies as a trained Fire Fighter
•Respond to other emergencies including response as a confined space rescue team member
•Respond to Security calls, incidents, and events
•Respond to Emergency Medical calls and provide First-Aid
•Stand an access point post, determine access, and direct traffic
•Communicate in clear understandable English language by two-way radio, telephone, computer, and hard-copy written information
•Record and disseminate appropriate information regarding access
•View, recognize, and act on appropriate security issues from active observation and by utilizing the CCTV camera displays
•Review, check, and process entering and exiting personnel for rule compliance
•Review, check, process, and activate access controls involving automated gates
•Monitor, interact, and respond in a timely manner to the fire alarm system electronic notifications
•Ensure guest and employee Safety and Security
•Conduct investigations and write clear, concise reports
•Enforce company policies and procedures
•Ensure facility security
•Engage in positive Guest and Team Member interaction, under all types of conditions
•Provide and portray customer service and hospitality through consistent demonstration of the ten essential attributes
•Ability to handle extremely stressful situations
•Conduct foot and vehicle formal fire-watch patrols utilizing electronic recording devices
•Drive a department patrol vehicle on public and private, improved and unimproved, roadways, trails, paths, including mountainous terrain.
•Drive, position, and operate the department's fire apparatus under routine and emergency operations.

Secondary Responsibilities:
•Maintain professional calm demeanor during encounters with guest, visitors, or team members
•Maintain professional (clean, neat) appearance
•Work independently with minimal supervision

Normal Working Hours: (Shift, days)
•Shifts (7:00am-3:00pm), (3:00pm-11:00pm), (11:00pm-7:00am)

To be successful in this position, the ideal candidate must meet the following criteria

in addition to the Ten Essential Attributes for All Team Members.

Past Work Experience Requirements: (Type of work, number of years required, equivalent experience, etc.)
•Firefighter / Emergency Medical Service and/or Law Enforcement / Military experience preferred
•Security service experience preferred

Educational Requirements: (Degree/Certification, highest required/preferred, field of study)
•High School Diploma or G.E.D. required

Communication Skills Requirements: (Verbal: phone, in-person, group; Written: memos, documents)
•Ability to effectively communicate verbally, both in person and on the telephone
•Report writing skills

Technical Requirements:
•Current certification as a WV Firefighter Level 1 or higher
•Must have the ability to achieve confined space entry and rescue certification
•Current certification in a recognized Basic First-Aid program or higher (Such as EMT), ie American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute, WV RESA, etc.
•Current certification in a recognized Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) program, ie American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute, WV RESA, etc.
•Valid drivers license
•Ability to obtain American Hotel and Lodging Association Certified Lodging Security Officer certification or an equivalent certification as specified by the Director of Security.
•Must achieve and maintain all training and technical requirements as listed in this EJF.
