Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator to join our team. The Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the Administrative Office of the Courts’ (AOC) Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the stability, security, and high performance of systems that support a variety of enterprise-level applications. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Linux administration, automation, system troubleshooting, and implementing security best practices in complex IT environments. Work Environment Work will be conducted in a hybrid setting from Monday through Friday each week, with 2 days remotely and 3 days on-site in Annapolis, MD. Minimum Qualifications (Required): Mandatory qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field (as determined by the Administrative Office of the Courts [AOC]). Certification: Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA). Certification must be issued by Red Hat and include a valid certification number. Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of 10 years of experience as a Red Hat system administrator. A minimum of 10 years of experience administering Unix (AIX) on IBM pSeries systems. A minimum of 15 years of experience in the IT field. Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, and maintain RHEL servers in development, test, and production environments. Perform system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening following industry best practices. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize uptime and efficiency. Develop and manage automation scripts using Ansible, Bash, or Python. Configure and maintain Red Hat tools such as Satellite and IdM. Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with vulnerability management and security policies. Manage storage, backup solutions, and disaster recovery strategies. Support application teams for Linux-based deployments. Maintain thorough documentation of system configurations and procedures. Participate in on-call support and incident resolution. Configure NFS and mount points. Create and manage Cron jobs for system and application tasks. Skills, Experience, and Capabilities: Technical Experience: Experience in complex networked system environments. Managing and administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems. Supporting and administering systems/applications like Oracle WebLogic, Oracle Database, Progress 4GL/OpenEdge, Apache, vSphere, Rubrik, PeopleSoft, Mobius, Elastic Search, Oracle OBI, CVS. Proficiency in performance tuning, load balancing, partitioning, disaster recovery, and supporting 24/7 system availability. Soft Skills & Abilities: Strong team collaboration and leadership. Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to interface with users and helpdesk personnel. Provide backup/recovery and networking expertise. Troubleshoot OS, database, and application issues. Knowledge Areas: In-depth knowledge of Red Hat administration, system configuration, and performance tuning. #J-18808-Ljbffr MAGADIA
