Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I), Revenue Recovery Unit, the Staff Services Analyst performs analytical staff work and data collection, research and analysis on a variety of assignments working as a team member of the Restitution Recovery Unit.  This position receives a high call volume of calls and liaison to various state and county entities, including Franchise Tax Board (FTB), California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), Victim Pass Thru, Joint Venture, county collection personnel and others regarding restitution recovery. The Staff Services Analyst works with counties, courts, probation offices, district attorneys’ offices, victim witness programs and other stakeholders to obtain accurate restitution information and data collection.

This position provides hybrid telework opportunities, with employees required to work in person at least two (2) days per week and as needed/required. Beginning July 1, 2025, all employees will be required to work in person four (4) days per week in alignment with Executive Order N-22-25.

This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and once per year. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.

  • Effectively operate a computer using the following software programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
  • Ability to develop statistical data and evaluate results.
  • Ability to apply and interpret policies, regulations, and laws.
  • Ability to take and follow verbal or written directions from supervisors/managers.
  • General knowledge of the VCP program to be able to establish program goals/objectives, identify/resolve program issues, etc.
  • General knowledge of the formal and informal aspects of the legislative process in order to analyze proposed legislation impacting CalVCB.

CalVCB is located at 400 R Street in downtown Sacramento, blocks from the light rail and public transportation and within walking distance to restaurants, Sacramento River levee bike trail, the State Capitol, farmer’s markets and the Golden 1 Arena.
