Field Inspector – Midwest Region
North Star Mutual Insurance Company seeks an individual to complete underwriting inspections to assess condition, maintenance, and potential hazards of properties. To efficiently and effectively complete the required duties it is ideal that the applicant live in or around the counties of South Dakota (Minnehaha, Lincoln, or Moody), Minnesota (Rock), or Iowa (Lyon).

Applicants must be able to follow direction, assist other staff members, be a self-starter, be able to think and work on their own. The ability to document inspections by taking photographs and measuring dimensions of property, sketching/drawing structures to scale, noting risks, and presenting findings to Underwriting.

A representative of the company needs to appear and conduct them self professionally while maintaining rapport with our policy holders and Agency partners. This individual needs to possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Preference for this position will be given to those with basic knowledge of construction, farm, and technology. The duties include physically demanding activities (including climbing), significant travel, and periodic travel away from home on business as needed.

While a variety of factors, including but not limited to job related knowledge, skillset, level of education and/or experience will be taken into consideration, it is anticipated this position will start at $60,000.00 per year. This role may be eligible for a merit increase annually and is eligible for our profit-sharing bonus plan.

Starting Range $60,000 to $65,000 annually.
