Sweet Group LLC is seeking a New York City-based Estimating Manager to lead a dynamic team of estimators. The role consists of managing a team of professionals developing budgets and estimates for various construction and design build projects in the Northeast. This role requires an individual with strong organizational and communication skills.

This is a full-time, in-person position in our New York City Office located in lower Manahattan. Reports directly to the Director of Cost Controls.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the compilation of bids and estimates for construction and design build projects.
  • Provide quantitative analysis of construction costs.
  • Supervise a team of estimators to ensure preparation of quality budgets and estimates.
  • Analyze trends, bid success rates, competitor pricing, and project budget lifecycles.
  • Work directly with the Purchasing Manager to buy out construction trades within budget.
  • Develop construction schedules, including cost-loaded schedules.
  • Communicate directly with and build relationships with subcontractors from various trades.
  • Soliciting and evaluating subcontractor bids for project compliance.
  • Work directly with assigned Project Managers to finalize project budgets.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of estimating experience.
  • Knowledge, skills and experience with construction methods, techniques and standards in the States of New York and New Jersey.
  • Familiarity with requirements of contracts, specifications and drawings.
  • Understanding of project constructability, whether inferred or objective for all construction trades.
  • Understanding of unit rates for all trades of construction.
  • Strong understanding of unions and local material markets.
  • Good communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Understanding subcontracts and the terms and conditions of purchase orders.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint, Microsoft Office, and Procore.
  • Experience with Primavera P6, a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Travel throughout the Tri-State area required.

  • Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 15 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
