Brandeis University's Graduate Professional Studies (GPS) is looking for an industry leader to teach in the Master of Science in Applied Biotechnology & Enterprise program. The course titled Bioinformatics & Computational Biology introduces students to principles and applications of bioinformatics and computational biology, focusing on sequence analysis, structural bioinformatics, and systems biology approaches. Topics include algorithms for genomic data analysis, machine learning applications, and computational modeling of biological systems. Students gain hands-on experience with bioinformatics tools and databases. Qualified candidates must have current active employment in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry, strong knowledge of the course topic including industry applications and emerging trends, a Ph.D. in a relevant field with at least one peer-reviewed publication, and experience with hands-on industry applications related to the course content. Preferred qualifications include previous college-level teaching or professional training experience, experience in online education or curriculum development, and familiarity with computational tools and data analysis. Responsibilities include developing and delivering course content aligned with Brandeis standards, facilitating discussions, providing feedback, grading assignments, providing hands-on training with bioinformatics software and programming languages such as Python and R, and integrating real-world datasets for analysis. Strong communication and teaching skills in an online environment and proficiency in data visualization and analysis techniques for biological datasets are required. The program is fully online, asynchronous, and part-time with no on-campus appearance required. The position is part of a collective bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local 509.
